SPONSOR'S & PARTNER'S
The best thing about Celebrate Recovery is that you're not going to go through it alone. Your Higher Power, Jesus Christ, and others that He will place alongside you on your journey to recovery will be with you every step of the way.
After you begin attending the weekly meetings and spending time in your desired support group you will start to develop relationships that will enable you to select a SPONSOR and an ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER.
A SPONSOR is someone who has completed the four participant's guides. He or she has worked through the 12 Steps and 8 Principles. The main goal of this relationship is to choose someone to guide you through the program.
An ACCOUNTABILITY PARTNER is someone you ask to hold you accountable for certain areas of your recovery or issues, such as meeting attendance, journaling, completing the weekly lessons, and so forth. This person can be at the same level of recovery as you are (unlike a sponsor, who should have completed the 12 Steps and 8 Principles). The main goal of this relationship is to encourage one another. An accountability partner can be one person or you can form an accountability group of three or four people.
Basically, the accountability partner or group acts as the "team," while the sponsor's role is like that of a "coach".
